Hi everyone,

I'm pleased to announce that the API is finally ready! Head on over to
the docs to see how it works: http://groups.google.com/group/plancast-api/web/overview

We're going to keep this in "private beta" mode for a week or two
before we announce it more widely. Please let us know if you run into
any bugs or if you have any suggestions so we can address them before
that time. We've tried to provide all of the functionality we expect
you'll need, but we also realize that we may have missed some, so
don't be shy in providing your feedback.

If you want to build something rather quickly in time for the broader
announcement, we'd love to use your implementation as an example to
others. We'll list it in the group here and include it in our
announcement as well.

The discussions section of the group is also now open to all members,
so feel free to post any questions or other messages that are relevant
to the API.

Happy coding!

Mark

Hi Mark (and other Plancast API beta users – who are you?),

Thanks – first impression: API looks great, documentation is clear.
Minor bug report: the first URL on
http://groups.google.com/group/plancast-api/web/api-method---users-show
appears to be from a different API method.

I was hoping to be able to search for Plancast users by a hash of
their email address (e.g. MD5 hash of lowercase email address, like
Gravatar). Search by Twitter username would also be good. Is this
possible using the users/search method? That would allow us to show
Plancast info easily in Rapportive.

Thanks
Martin

Thanks for pointing out that URL example mistake in users/show -- I
just went in and fixed it.

We're experimenting with some methods that let you pull query users
based on particular identifiers, as you describe. I'll follow up with
you separately about those since they're not live in the docs yet. If
anyone else on the list is interested in that sort of functionality,
too, please let me know.

I should probably make the members list here public for all of you to
see -- if anyone has an objection to that, please ping me.

Mark

Mark, the API looks good.  I played around briefly - it seems clear and well organized.  We're pushing to roll out a new format by month's end that will allow for testing some new things, including how we can work with Plancast data & network.  Hope to have more feedback for you then.

Martin, I'm a developer in Cambridge, MA looking at ways to do more with the plans and other forward-looking communication that people share on Twitter.  I'm working with another developer on an early-stage attempt at a Twitter app for making and finding such plans - called Rally at http://rallyplan.com/
