Is there a reason that SSL is not available when sending passwords in
plaintext? I'd love to build an app off the API but there are too
many people who sit at Starbucks on free wifi for this to be safe.

Hi there,

We currently don't provide it simply for lack of demand to date. Can you provide some more info about what you'd like to build with the API (to this list or directly to me)?

We'd certainly like to provide SSL but given our priority list these days, I can't promise much for the near future.

Best,
Mark

How about HTTP Digest auth? It does not require sending the password
in the request, it uses a message digest (hash) approach.

My cofounder Jay actually set up SSH this past week. Check out:

We'll have it on the site as the default for sign in as well soon.
