Subject: Give2Asia's Disaster Preparedness Program

Dear friends,

I hope you are doing well. I write to inform you of a recent Give2Asia, my current employer, announcement that may be relevant to your network. Give2Asia and the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) recently announced support for local disaster preparedness and resiliency programs in Indonesia. This announcement comes as a part of our joint NGO Disaster Preparedness Program, which aims to connect corporate, foundation and individual donors in the U.S. with effective local disaster preparedness and resiliency building programs in six Asian countries. As a part of this effort, I would like to share with you and your network the following opportunities:

1.      NGO Disaster Preparedness Fund: Give2Asia and IIRR will be making grants to new or ongoing disaster preparedness and resiliency building programs. One-year programs up to $25,000 and two-year programs up to $50,000 will be considered. You can read the full Request for Proposal at give2asia.org/RFP and the local NGO partners can apply by submitting the forms found at give2asia.org/ngodpp-forms. Deadline to apply is August 31, 2014.

2.      Conference on Community-based Disaster Preparedness: Give2Asia & IIRR will host a conference in Silang, Cavite, Philippines from July 2-4. This conference will bring together 20-25 disaster preparedness and resiliency practitioners from Indonesia and the Philippines to explore the successes, challenges and experiences of implementing disaster preparedness and resiliency programs in their own community. Our program will cover the cost of travel, room and board for all participants. If you know local experts have experiences in disaster preparedness or resiliency building that others can learn from, or are interested in learning from IIRR and other experienced practitioners, you can learn more and/or ask the local experts to apply to attend the conference at give2asia.org/IIRRconference. The deadline to apply is June 16.

Many thanks in advance for your help spreading the news to your network. I hope your local NGO partners will consider applying for one or both of these opportunities.

Best regards,

Anna Juliastuti
