For we walk by faith and not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
The Word To Live by: Let me give you the Phil W. translation of that. “We walk by faith in God’s word not by our feelings.” With that said let’s look at Proverbs 2 in the New International Version of the Bible. 2:6-8, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.” Back to the Phil W. translation. “From the Word of God comes knowledge and understanding of life. Success is sitting on the shelf of the Word of God waiting for you to take by walking by faith and not by sight. It guards the course of your life by protecting those who live by faith.” Now for the sake of time skip down to verses 10&11. “For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.” Let’s review. Wisdom and knowledge for living your life comes from the Word of God. The wisdom and knowledge of God give you discretion which protects you and guards you. (Discretion is making decisions based on your knowledge and judgement of the situation.) Now verses 12&16, “Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse. Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive ways.” When you walk by faith and not by your feelings it will keep you out of perverse, adulterous, and wayward situations. Back to the Phil W. translation. The wisdom and knowledge of God will give you the discretion to make decisions not based on your feelings.
