The steps of a good man are established by the Lord, and He takes pleasure in his way. Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the Lord holds his hand.

The Word To Live By: A good man is a righteous person. We’ve talked about this before. You are made righteous in God's sight through Christ spiritually. In other words, your spirit is righteous when you accept Him as your Lord and Savior (see 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 and Romans 10:9). You are also given the ability to live a righteous life through abiding in the Word of God. 1 Peter 2:24 says, “He (Jesus) bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die unto sin and live unto righteousness…”) When you live unto righteousness by living by faith is when the steps of a good man are established by the Lord. For instance, God is not establishing your steps to lie, cheat, or steal, on any level. He is establishing your steps when you trust Him and walk by faith and not by sight. (“Without faith it is impossible to please God. He that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6) Walking by faith and not by sight means you are trusting what the Word of God promises over whatever negative feelings are telling you - things like fear of a possible outcome of a situation, worry and/or anxiety, frustration, disappointment, depression, or any other feeling that is denying the power of God to work in your life. There is a reason that Peter said in 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast ALL your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”  The reason is you can’t live by faith or walk by faith if you are living in and walking by anxiety. How do you do that? First of all, you say, “God, I can’t handle this, so I cast the anxiety and fear of the outcome of this onto You because I know you can. Your Word says … (quote the promise). Thank you.” And then we get back to a word I talked about yesterday when it tries to come back (and it will); you refute it. That is, you don’t pay attention to it and set your mind, will, and emotions against the feeling. You contest it. You counter it with what God says and repudiate it. When you do that, you can walk confidently through life knowing that God is leading you into something good.
