We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:5

The Word To Live By: I’m dove-tailing with yesterday’s WTLB. Matthew 15:18 says, “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.”  We know that things get into our heart (spirit) through true meditation. By true meditation I don’t mean making your mind blank and letting whatever thought that floats through relax you and take you wherever it does. I mean the things you think about, mumble to yourself and put yourself into the situation. For example, if you are driving down the road and somebody cuts you off in traffic, you begin to think about what you should have said or done to that person and the next time that happens, that’s what you are going to do. If you do this enough at some point, you will do it. That’s what true meditation is.  So, replace those kinds of thoughts and mumblings with the Word of God so when you get into a negative situation, what will come out of your mouth will be the seed that will produce the fruit that will save you. God the Father first laid this principle out to Joshua when he was getting ready to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land that they were going to have to fight for. (The promises of God are yours but sometimes you must fight to get them and fight to keep them.) Joshua 1:7,8, “Be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right of to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth (don’t quit saying it), but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.”  Success and prosperity come from doing the Word. Being a doer of the Word comes from meditating on it. What you meditate on is what will come out of your mouth and what comes out of your mouth will turn into the fruit of your life. “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”  (Philippians 4:8)
