The Word To Live By: The other day, I was discussing with a friend about getting the head knowledge of God from our brains to our hearts. Shortly after that, I was reading Proverbs 7 and the answer showed up. (I love it when the Holy Spirit shows up like an advertisement on your phone. You know, like when you are talking with somebody about a particular product or place you want and the next thing you know, an advertisement for it shows up in your feed. Sorry about that, It’s the way I think. 😊) Anyway, here it is. Your heart is your treasure chest and you put into it the things that are most precious and important to you. They start out with you seeing them and thinking, “That’s important.” Proverbs 7:3, “Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.” They get written on the tablet of your heart by you writing them down and commenting on what they mean to you. (That’s a form of meditation.) Verse 4, “Say to wisdom, ‘You are my sister,’ and call understanding your intimate friend;’” What you say and meditate on will get into your spirit man. What good does that do? Glad you asked! Verse 5, “That they may keep you from an adulteress, from the foreigner who flatters with her words.” An adulteress would be a Christian who cheats on God with the world’s culture and a foreigner is a non-Christian, both of which will, if you listen to or talk like, will open up your treasure chest for deposits. Jesus said in Luke 6:47 that what you accept as the truth and put into practice will be deposited in your treasure chest if you let it. Jesus said in Mark 7:14-16, “Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” So, what are you supposed to do with doubt and unbelief? Ignore it; ignore it to the best of your ability by not talking about it and speaking the promise of God against it (an armada and a tool). To get into this more, I’m going to have to get into Mark 5 and the accounts of the woman with the issue of blood and raising Jarius’ daughter from the dead. I’ll do that tomorrow so for today, understand that if you don’t speak doubt and unbelief, it won’t get deposited in your heart (no matter what you think), and what you say and choose to believe will eventually get deposited in your treasure chest.
