Then a revelation from the Lord came to him: Leave here, turn eastward, and hide yourself at the Wadi Cherith where it enters the Jordan. You are to drink from the Wadi. I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there.” 1 Kings 17:2-4

The Word to live by: God is saying to Elijah, “Now that you’ve done what I told you, I’m also going to take care of you. Here’s how.” The Wadi Cherith is a little creek that feeds the Jordan River, so God is supplying him with water from the creek, and meat will be brought to him by birds. Sounds like a Bible story of God just being God. But put yourself in Elijah’s place. The water, I get, but ravens bringing me meat? Ravens? Really? Ravens are an unclean bird that God had told them not to touch. And we’re not talking about this happening occasionally; we’re talking twice a day. Don’t limit God, and don’t try and figure out how He’s going to do something. He said He would feed Elijah, and that’s all Elijah had to trust. I’ve worked in my life for some of the most foul-mouthed and dishonest men and women you can imagine, but I wasn’t going to turn down the job because they didn’t fit the mold of who I thought God wanted to use to supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (I’ve also had my share of upstanding, forthright men and women bosses, too.) Don’t get locked into a thought pattern of “God can only bless me one way.” Learn to see beyond the natural and trust God with supernatural means if necessary. We’re talking about the anointing and blessing of God being on the little things we do in obedience. And when you obey, obey with excellence. Do the best you can do, even if it takes longer to do a minor task than you want to spend on it. Quality will always overtake quantity.
