The Lord is for me; I will not fear; what can man do to me? The Lord is on my side, among those who help me. Psalm 118:6,7
The Word To Live By: The next Biblical doctrine that you need to line up your theology with is God is on your side. This was huge for me, because I grew up (in my teenage years) in an atmosphere of who was on your side was sometimes the difference of getting out of certain situations in one piece or at the least only beat up a little. God is always for me, and never against me. He causes all things to work together for my good because He loves me and has a plan for my life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans that I have for you’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. The you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” Now does that sound like somebody who is against you sometimes. Or does that sound like someone who is for you and on your side all the time? The Bible is full of stories of men and women of God who faced impossible odds and because God was on their side came out victorious. I think of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, in the third chapter of Daniel. They were thrown into a furnace that was so hot it burned up the people who threw them in. (There is a big lesson in just that statement. Daniel 3:22) When they got into the furnace there was a fourth man in there, the Son of God. When you know that you know that God is on your side there is nothing you can’t face and come out victorious. Remember the name of Jesus is above every name and He’s on your side.
