These are the Proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel. Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise. Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just, and fair. Proverbs 1:1-3 New Living Testament
The Word to live by: I’m repeating this scripture because I want you to understand why I am doing this and fall in love with the Word of God. I think that when you realize that God is for you and for your success in life, the tests, trials and temptations are simply to try to steal that from you. Number three from Proverbs 3 in keys to good life is found in verses 5 and 6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him …” The word “trust” in the Old Testament means faith. Have faith in God with all your spirit. Faith that moves mountains comes from your heart, not your head. In fact, your head can be telling you one thing and your spirit/heart another. Go with your heart. The first two keys both talked about getting the Word of God and the will of God in your heart because what comes out of your heart determines the course of your life (Proverbs 4:23). Don’t have faith in your own understanding but in what the Word of God promises. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says that we are to walk by faith in what God says and not by our feelings. Now, don’t get that mixed up with tempting God. When the devil told Jesus to jump off the roof of the temple because he said that God promised to give His angels charge over Him, Jesus said, “It is said, thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God,” (Luke 4:12). Whatever you do, do it as though the Lord was personally standing there watching you. Do your work so as not to embarrass Him. When you are doing verses 5 and 6 in Proverbs 3, the end of verse six will kick in, “He will direct your paths.” That doesn’t mean that the devil will sit back and give you a smooth path, but if you trust in the Lord, it means you will end up where God wants you.
