No weapon formed against you will succeed, and you will refute any accusation raised against you in court. This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants, and their righteousness is from Me.” This is the Lord’s declaration. Isaiah 54:17
The Word to Live By: This promise is spoken and recorded by Isaiah, specifically for born-again, Bible-believing Christians. How do you know that, brother? Because it says, “Their righteousness is from Me!” declares the Lord. Only God can declare you righteous, and that’s based on you becoming a new creation in Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5:17-21). The weapons formed against you are from A.) the devil, and B.) designed to make you quit living for Christ. Notice it says, “You will refute them.” We don’t sit around and wait for the devil to quit; we do something about it. How do you refute something? You deny its right to exist. You don’t deny its existence; you deny its right to exist in your life. A couple of synonyms for refute are disapprove and counter. How do you counter an accusation raised by the devil? If we go to Ephesians 6:10, 11, we see the answer to this question. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” An accusation from the devil is a scheme for you to step aside and believe what he is saying about you, or that the Word of God is not true. I can’t say it any better than Ephesians 6:13 in The Message Translation, “Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting, you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” Remember, “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds!”
