Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? … But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. Romans 8:35, 37
The Word to live by: What does it mean to be more than a conqueror? The definition of a conqueror is to gain mastery over or win by overcoming obstacles or opposition. So, if you are beyond that, it means you are on the same side of someone or something that has already done that and therefore you are taking part in the spoil of that victory without doing any of the hand-to-hand fighting. Jesus conquered the devil on Calvary and at the temple. He took our punishment, which was spiritual death, and set us free from the results of sin. So, my question is, why did He do that? The answer is simple - because God has the capability of 100% unconditional love. I live off of verses 38 and 39, “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” You can’t do something that would separate you from the love of God, so don’t let the devil convince you that there is. The devil taunts you in your thought life by trying to tell you that you really aren’t good enough for the kingdom of God, and the taunting from the enemy may seem persistent at times, but our job is to keep standing firm in our place of victory, the place God has given us as Christians (Ephesians 6:13). I’ll close today with one of my favorite scriptures, “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
