I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint. Jeremiah 31:25
The Word To Live By: Most days, at the end of it, I think life is an incredible adventure. However, the operative phrase there is, “at the end of it.” God has built us in a certain way that need, for our spirits, souls and bodies rest and attention and not neglect. The right food and sleep take care of our bodies and to some extent our minds but so often we neglect the engine, our spirits. The world offers promises of happiness and contentment through achievement of goals and money. Inevitably they fall short and lead to disillusionment and disappointments. The Word of God, on the other hand, offers care for our deepest needs and everyday challenges. Jeremiah 31:25 offers us true satisfaction in life. The ways of God lead to lasting renewal. After studying the scriptures for the last 50 years, I have found a simple truth; the most significant step in life to remain refreshed is spend time in God’s presence. That unlocks the door to wisdom, perspective, respite, refreshment, and restores our mind, body and soul. Our hope soars when we spend time in the presence of God. Prayer, worship, Scripture reading, church participation, and service to others invites God’s presence and provides the antidote to a weary spirit, soul, and body. They say 20 minutes a day of hard exercise will change your body. Try 20 minutes a day in prayer, worship, and reading your Bible and see what that does for you.
