The Word To Live By: Time for a football analogy. Did you ever stop to think that God is undefeated and unscored upon? The one touchdown the devil did score was called back. Didn’t like that one? How about a baseball analogy? God pitched a perfect game. The devil drew a walk but got picked off trying to steal second. How about soccer? The score was 0-0 in regulation when the devil kicked a goal in overtime. But that was the only one he got. The Holy Spirit tied it up on the fourth kick and God the Father put it, not only in the back of the net, but it was so hard it went through the net and into the home stand on the fifth kick. I’ll stop with that one even though I have one for track and basketball. 😊 My point is the light of God shines so brightly that no matter what the darkness we walk into that comes our way, the light of God overcomes it. John 1:4,5, “In Him was life (Superabundant life) and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overpower it.” Matthew 5:16 says to, “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they see your good works and glorify God.” Did you ever stop and think that the first thing that God did in a formless, void world was to send His light? Not the sun, not the moon, but His light which is the power that overcomes the darkness. I like what Genesis 1:4 says, “And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.” There is a clear distinction between the goodness of God and the damage of the devil. There is such a distinction that when the light of God’s Word is shed on the darkness, it turns it to good (Romans 8:28). Psalm 118:6 “God is on my side. I will not fear.” If you have a chance to be on a team coached by an undefeated, unscored upon coach, that’s the team you should choose. Now, read the playbook. (A playbook is a literal book with all the plays the coach wants to run to win the game, both offense and defense.)
