A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. Proverbs 27:12

The Word To Live By: The definition of prudence is the ability to govern and discipline oneself by using reason. It is skill and good judgment in managing daily affairs. Here’s what I got out of this scripture. Avoid and/or take precautions in dangerous situations - spiritually, soulishly, and physically - and life will have less bumps in the road and steep mountains to drive up. It’s easier to stay healthy than it is to get healthy. The fuel you put into your spirit is like the fuel you put into your car. If you put bad fuel into your engine, you will have a bad performing car.  Putting good fuel into your spirit is meditating on the Word of God. Psalm 1:1-3, says that if you meditate on God’s Word, you will be like a tree planted by streams of living water. Your leaves won’t wither and whatever you do will prosper.  Your thought life is like the fuel filter in your car. Your mind filters out the impurities of what goes into your spirit. Colossians 3:2 says to set your mind on things above, not on things of the earth. Romans 12:2 says to transform your mind by thinking on the things of God (memorize scripture), not on the things of the world. (Don’t get tied up with the world’s problems that you can’t do anything about.) Finally, you wouldn’t drive your car through a junkyard with no road. You will eventually scratch it, dent it, ruin the tires, and break it, engine, body, and transmission. James said in chapter 1:22 to be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. It’s the doers of the Word that are blessed, not those who simply listen to it and don’t do it. When you are actively doing the Word, you are taking care of all of you, spirit, soul, and body. These might seem like silly metaphors to some of you but that doesn't make Proverbs 27:12 any less true. Make up your own and send them to me and maybe I’ll plagiarize them and use them as my own. 😊
