Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And
the peace of God, which surpasses all; comprehension, will guard your heart and
minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7
The Word To Live By: This is a great scripture to preach and great advice. If
you are worried about something, DON’T. All you have to do Is tell God what’s
worrying you and ask Him to fix it and thank Him for doing it. And poof! All your
worries go away and you have a peace that surpasses all understanding. Raise
your hand if that’s the way it worked for you? My hand is not up. Yesterday we
started looking at what Paul said to do leading up to this scripture and what
to do leading away from it. You can read the first three steps from yesterday and
then jump into step four which is verse 4, “Rejoice in the Lord always;
again I say rejoice.” Rejoice means, to express a deep, heartfelt joy and
gladness. It is more than mere happiness; it is a profound sense of joy that is
rooted in spiritual realities and divine truths. To rejoice means that we look
not at the things that are seen but at the things that are not seen. (The
promises of God) The things that are seen are temporary. But the things that
are not seen (The promises of God) are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18) When you
know how it ends and that it is going to end in victory for you then you can
count whatever is worrying you as joy. Because it’s testing your faith and the
testing of your faith produces endurance and when endurance is complete you
come out more mature in the things of God and (Here’s the good part) lacking
nothing. James 1:3,4) I’ll close this part with 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice
always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks ; for this is God’s
will for you in Christ Jesus.”
