Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. Mark 11:23

The Word To Live By: We have established that God wants us to live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38). Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is a substance. It’s a spiritual substance that is contacted and released through your spirit, faith that moves mountains of fear and disappointment and establishes the path of God in your life. Faith begins with your mouth speaking what your spirit believes. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God,” (Romans 10:17). What you believe is a choice that you make. You can choose to believe the Bible or you choose not to believe it, but what you listen to, especially what you hear yourself say, will set the course of your future. We see this principle all through the Bible but never clearer than in Genesis 1. God said, “Let there be …” and whatever God said to be, appeared.  And whatever God said to be was good. John 1:3-5, speaking of the Word of God, says, “All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness could not overpower it.”  When you speak the Word of God into your life, you are lighting a candle that is exposing darkness and bringing life into the situation. Now, there are some situations where one candle isn’t enough to expose all the darkness, so what do you do? Light another candle. And keep lighting candles until all the darkness is gone. (I’m of course referring to spiritual candles, representing the Word of God.) One thing you don’t do is light a bunch of candles in the morning and blow them out throughout the day with breaths of doubt and unbelief. “Well, I spoke the Word of God to the mountain this morning, but I see it’s still there, so I guess God isn’t moving that mountain.” Woooosh! The light and life of the words you spoke just went out. Learn 2 Corinthians 5:7, “WE walk by faith and not by sight.” And line your confession up with that. (Don’t deny the existence of the mountain; just keep bombarding it with the light and life of God.)  Romans 4 gives us an example of this in the explanation of the manifestation the promise of God working in the life of Abraham. Read it and I’ll talk about it tomorrow.
