These things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of Peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9

The Word To Live By: In conclusion, practice. Practice the things that God has taught you through what you have heard Him say and seen Him do. Practice standing firm, practice getting along with people, practice helping people, practice rejoicing and praying and giving thanks, even when you don’t feel like it. My first year of varsity football in my freshman year of high school, I didn’t particularly like practicing at first. To begin with, it was several hours twice a day for two weeks before school started. It was hot and humid and exhausting, both physically and mentally five days a week. I remember on Saturday after the first week, my dad had a chore he wanted me to do and I was sore and tired and really didn’t want to do it. I told him how bad I was feeling, and he said to me that overcoming that feeling and practicing was the only thing that was going to make me better. In other words, don’t quit practicing, especially when you don’t feel like it. That changed my attitude because I wanted to get better. I want to grow in the things of God and to do that, I have to practice what He says. I have to walk by faith and not by sight, even when I’m scared, frustrated and too tired to keep going. It’s the only way I’m going to be able to walk consistently in the will of God for my life.

Read through the Bible in a year: Acts 20:17-34;    Judges 14-15;    Job 42;

Read through the New Testament and Proverbs: Proverbs 12, Luke 22:1-36, James 4
