The Word To Live By: I hope you all are getting the symbolism of my use of the words armada and tools to build a house. In Ephesians 6:12, Paul said that our struggles in life boil down to a fight with the devil. He said in 2 Corinthians 10:4 that the weapons of that war were not physical but mighty through the Word of God. Then, in Luke 6:47-48, Jesus said, “Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like; he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.” An armada is a fleet of war ships so the scriptures that promise us everything pertaining to life and godliness are our armada and the tools to build our lives on the foundation are the instructions we are to act on. Our armada is built as we read and meditate on the Word of God through revelation knowledge. We all start out with one ship - the revelation that Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the dead. Our tool is confessing His Lordship over our lives. As we grow and mature in the Word, our armada not only grows but our tools increase and get more powerful. (I once contracted to roof a house. Two men and I took a week to do it with hand tools. We carried all the shingles up the ladder by hand and nailed every shingle down by hand. The next house I did, I hired a crew of four men who tore off the old roof, put down a layer of felt paper, re-shingled it, and cleaned up the mess in one day. The biggest difference was they used power tools to tear it off, bring the shingles up the ladder, and put the new shingles down. Power tools matter.) In Proverbs 3, the armada consists of two main ships - faith (verse 5) and letting your heart lead you in the commandments not your feelings (verses 1 and 5). Some of the tools are kindness and speaking the truth, memorizing the Word (verse 3), honor God in all you do and turn away from evil (verse 7), and be generous and give God the first tithe of your increase (verse 9). Proverbs 3 goes on with more ships for your armada and tools to build your life with. Another ship for me is verse 11, accepting the correction and discipline of the Lord. And another tool is using the wisdom of God and not my own if it didn’t line up with God’s. My hope is that you build your own armada and fill your toolbox with His tools. I’ll close with Proverbs 3:22,23, “So they will be life to your soul and adornment to your neck. Then you will walk in your way securely and your foot will not stumble.”
