I am still trying to edit and add text files to my original "Drop Box". When I try to use 'PlainText', the original text file is unchanged ?!?? What I now have is a new text file in 'plaintext' !! Nothing changes in drop box AND my file is no longer secure !!!!
I linked your app. To my Ipad but nothing is changed in my dropbox.

Can you tell me a bit more about how you have it set up? To link PlainText to Dropbox:

1. Launch PlainText and tap the settings gear icon at the bottom-left of the documents list.
2. Go to the Dropbox settings section and tap "Link to Dropbox"
3. Give PlainText permission to sync
4. Any files you create in PlainText are now syncing to the PlainText folder inside of the Dropbox folder.

One thing that sometimes happens is a person will open the official Dropbox app, find their file, and use the "Open In…" option from the Dropbox app to open their file PlainText. That's only making a new copy of the file in PlainText and it will not change the original file. Also, if they haven't linked to Dropbox from inside PlainText, the file can't sync back. For PlainText to sync properly, PlainText must be linked to Dropbox using the steps above.

This might also be what you mean by "my file is no longer secure"? PlainText doesn't have a startup password, and so any files synced or copied into it will be accessible unless the iPad or iPhone itself is locked with a passcode.

Hi Grey

I've this sync problem from dropbox to Plaintext too. After changing a dropbox file on my imac, if you open it from Plaintext, it recover old data (device version) and revert them to dropbox file, erasing previous changes. However, changes on plaintext are sent to Dropbox without problem, but reverse direction data sync is not possible

I've unlinked Plaintext from dropbox and try to relink without success. I've tried to uninstall and install again Plaintext and the problem occurs again. In both tests I have checked that Plaintext was correctly closed (not in background). Both iphone and imac are time synchronized so I've no idea which could be the problem.

Here you are some information in case it could help you:

     - MacOS Mountain Lion updated
     - Dropbox for Mac 2.0.6
     - Iphone 4s, iOS 5.1.1
     - iOS Dropbox 2.2
     - Plaintext 1.7.5
