On the iPhone or iPad, when I select a .txt file in Dropbox and select the "Open in" command, Plaintext is one of the choices. That's not true when I select an .rtf document. Is there a way to have Plaintext pop up as a choice for .rtf?

Of course, Dropbox will display either type, but to edit, the document needs to be opened in another app.

Good question! That's because PlainText can't actually work with *.rtf files, only *.txt ("plain text"). I'm not very familiar with the options for editing rtf on an iPhone or iPad -- if anyone else reading this thread could make a few suggestions that would be great!

Its a bit over-kill,  nowhere near as elegant as PlainText, (and I haven't used it a lot), CloudOn can read, edit and write rtf files (as well as several other types - its a Microsoft Office emulator).  You can link it to Dropbox as well a several other cloud storage apps.

Hi guys,
Plaintext does not see rtf files in the dropbox and does not open them. I am afraid, the name of the app is against you :-).

I use Textilus (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/textilus-word-processor-microsoft/id537818639?mt=8). The latest update is called 'Microsoft Office Word Edition'. So far, I have been able to handle rtf and doc files with it. It also features an extended keyboard, very nice. You can try the free version before you buy it.

Kind regards,
Dirk
