I had given up EPUB as hopeless. Then Jamie Cooper suggested I try Calibre. And guess what, with a bit of jiggling around…it worked! I still can't get it to handle a monospace typeface; I read a bit about it and the whole business seems cursed.

So, instead of holding out indefinitely, I've put a link to the EPUB version on the PLAI site:
