Ironicallythat may have ruined me for Cooper Black as a grown up. I could never shake the notion that it was a childish font. As a budding high school typography nerd, I categorized all the fonts I could access from my school computers not by their traditional typographic characteristics, but by my uninformed perception of sophistication. I separated the wheat of grown up fonts that could be taken seriously from the chaff of cheesy and childish display faces that I thought were beneath me. I wanted to put away my childish things.

The original version of Cooper Black was the creation of Oz Cooper for the Barnhart Brothers & Spindler Type Foundry in 1921. Cooper, who studied lettering under the legendary Frederic Goudy, was asked to design a typeface based on his own lettering. That face, originally called Cooper, would become Cooper Oldstyle and was released in 1916.

The italic version hit the scene in 1924, distinct from its roman progenitor not only for its oblique axis, but for the use of alternate shapes for a handful of its letters, most notably the a, f, k, v, w, x and y:

Cooper himself was known for his whimsy as well as his skill at crafting letterforms. So it speaks to the versatility of his designs that his letters can so easily represent childhood and maturity all in the same strokes.

MercurySteam's previous game, Jericho, wouldn't indicate that a project like Lords of Shadow was forthcoming. It should be emphasized that I liked Jericho, even if I couldn't recommend it, for all the reasons I laid out back in 2007 - at least a million years ago, as the Internet reckons time. Novel mechanics and rock-solid worldbuilding were in evidence though; if the studio survived, I wondered what we might see next.

This is what: a game that reaches up from the crust of the accursed earth and tries to seize the moon. Every part of the game isn't perfect - its occasionally recalcitrant camera and (at least, to my mind) somewhat choppy melee experience are, on the whole, mitigated and even ennobled somehow by the coherence of its vision. They become something like the goofy habits of a friend, made diffuse in their aggregated being.

My mouth has hung open and I've pointed at the screen, looking over to Gabe to verify that he is seeing the same thing, and that the wonders and terrors taking place on the screen are genuine and not the result of some ancient cache of psychotropic drugs leaching out of my spinal fluid. An an artistic statement, every corner of this world has something new to tell you. The mythology is actually interesting, not "videogame" interesting. There are also, inexplicably, several moments of strong humor in the game - strange slapstick moments that, executed in Lords' unrelenting Gothic atmosphere, melt that mounting darkness into candy. You see these moments alongside the others, pitch-perfect dramatics and cutscenes you would never think of skipping, and the love of this developer for this project is unavoidable.

Replacement decals for your Customisable Veggie Garden Stakes can now be ordered so you can reuse the same stakes year after year. Comes with transfer tape already applied and a border to help you with straight application.

To Apply: Remove old lettering (can apply heat with hair dryer to melt glue), clean off old glue residue (we recommend isopropyl alcohol), peel backing paper off sticker, place on stake, smooth down any air bubbles with a credit card or fingers and then finally remove transfer sticker layer leaving your cut letters on your new plant stake!

With the different varieties of tomato seedling I have, I decided to make some garden label stakes using my adhesive vinyl. I created a couple different versions, one with a white outline, which I feel I can see better, but I like the classy look of the garden stakes without the white background. Which version do you prefer?

To make these garden label stakes, you will need to to pick a font that you will find easy to read. I choose a calligraphic font called Luminari. Type out the name of your plant in your cutting machine software and resize it to fit your garden stakes. You can create an outline by using the outline tool. You might have to delete some points inside the outline if the word has letters with holes in them, such as letter P and letter O.

Cut out your designs in your vinyl weed out the letters and numbers with the weeding tool. Use the gridded transfer tape to adhere the words to the garden stake. Use the scraping tool or a credit card to get a really smooth transfer.

I duplicated the design until I had 5. Since the wood I was cutting had the grain on the horizontal I grouped all five together and rotated them so they would cut with the grain. This makes them stronger.

If you have been on the fence about a laser cutter/engraver this machine is so fast and pretty easy to use. The hardest part, for me has been getting the settings just right. Once I have them the way I like them I write them on an index card. Then I pull out the card the next time I am going to engrave or cut that material.

This centralization can be seen in the numbers. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, at one point in October 2021, 10% of the miners controlled 90% of the Bitcoin network, and .01% controlled about 50% of the network. 50% is all that is needed to take control of the network. Even today, it's likely the same few dozen miners that have dominated bitcoin mining for years, even though many have been routed by the bear market.
