Placemaking for health & wellbeing

A new training course and place audit for creating healthier places

Our mission at Village Well is to connect people to place for health, wealth and happiness. And this month we are focused on health!

Kids in Australia could be the first generation in history to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. 50% of Australians live with chronic disease. The places we create can make people happier and healthier, or alternatively, they could contribute to physical and mental decline.  Find out more in our recent blog.

Our new training program and Place Pulse Health Audit service, teaches built environment professionals, government and developers how to design and activate places for better physical and mental health.

Course options

  • In-house masterclass training, at a time and location convenient to you
  • Online course, commencing 24 May, delivered over 4 x weekly webinars
  • Online course, commencing 24 May, as above, with 3 x individual mentoring sessions with our CEO
  • Get in touch with Sally to request a training brochure and find out about our Place Pulse Health Audit

Are you creating places to enhance health - or are you making it worse?

New blog: how placemaking can improve health outcomes as much as quitting smoking

Place is one of the three social determinants of health. It is so important to our lives that our postcode is linked to life expectancy. Kids in Australia could be the first generation in history to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents.

“If you move to an area that has a much lower life expectancy, you will take on the risk and the life expectancy of that new area very quickly.” VicHealth CEO Dr Sandro Demaio , globally-renowned public health expert and advocate.

By adopting trauma-informed placemaking techniques, salutogenic design principles and wellbeing-led practice, Village Well's new health and wellbeing training course, and Place Pulse Health Audit, can help residents to live happier live and improve physical and mental health. Find out more in our latest blog by Emma Hall and introductory webinar.
