Capability Sessions: Learning Together

December Webinars

28 November 2022

Kia ora,

We are pleased to invite you to our last global dialogue webinar of 2022, on December 7, 10 am NZST.

The Capability Sessions: Learning Together is a webinar series developed for the Streets for People programme at Waka Kotahi. Part of building our capability is learning from our peers as well as from national and international experts in urbanism, and that’s why we are excited to introduce you to Eveline Trevisan, Sustainability and Environment Coordinator at BHTrans (Belo Horizonte, Brazil).

This webinar series will be of special interest to our Streets for People cohort, as well as to councils, planners and developers, professional associations, academics, and urban practitioners. Please feel free to extend this invitation to your interested colleagues.

Ngā mihi nui,

Webinar: Transforming our cities, starting from our streets

Eveline is an architect and urbanist from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She holds a master’s degree in social sciences and PhD in urbanism. Eveline has worked on urban projects for Belo Horizonte City Council since 1993.

Over the past 10 years, Eveline coordinated Belo Horizonte’s bicycle mobility program Pedala BH and created GT Pedala BH, a workgroup that brings together the public sector and civil society. The group meets monthly to discuss bicycle use in Belo Horizonte. Since 2018, she has been working on projects to reduce speed on the streets to bring more safety and reframe the role of the street as an important meeting place for people.

In this webinar, Eveline will cover lessons of collaboration and citizen participation when it comes to transforming public spaces ‘for people’ and the role of urban pedagogy as a structuring factor for the transformation of cities.

Please register using the following link. We will record the session for those who cannot attend.
