Dear Placemaking Europe community and readers,
As we are entering a new month, we are coming to you with a handluf of news from our network, stories and events from our partners, as well as some resources, calls
for contents and book recommendations, that might help make this long fall evenings much more captivating.
Even though, this year we don't get to interact much in the public space or exchange insights and feelings with each other in person, we still have a great
chance to connect and share our passions, projects and inspirations. Join us in our journey and, as sir Winston Churchill once stated: "Never let a good crisis go to waste".
Let's keep exploring together and take a look at what prepared for you this month!

Can our parks make us more resilient to climate change?
Check out this TEDx talk video, in which
Katherine Peinhardt - the Project Leader of Climate Action Working Group, shares her research on resilient public spaces. You can watch it
here.
Katherine Peinhardt's research bridges the gap between placemaking and climate adaptation and explores the ways that communities can build both physical and social resilience to climate change through their public spaces. Through her work at nonprofits focused
on the public realm and on urban sustainability, Katherine developed a paradigm around
resilient public spaces — which she sees as an often-overlooked opportunity to build livelier, more climate-adapted cities.

Parklet Manual
The Parklet Manual is a comprehensive overview of the goals, policies, processes, procedures,
and guidelines for creating a parklet in San Francisco. The manual also serves as a resource for those outside of San Francisco working to establish parklet programs in their own cities. The manual guides you through the entire process from submitting a proposal
to implementation and maintenance. This one seems like a perfect solution for times when we need more space for people in the cities!

San Francisco Planning Department
