2008 Best: L Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes) 1'35.630
Notes: Sebastian Buemi's Toro Rosso expired on the circuit with only six
minutes of the session remaining. Most drivers explored the run off areas
at least once, no one did any damage, although Kimi Räikkönen came close
on his first hot lap. Lewis Hamilton, despite topping the times, managed
to go off track several times. The two BMW Sauber's were the only ones
to try out the option (super-soft) tyres, which enabled them to jump up
to second and third in the dying moments of the session. Fernando Alonso's
Renault languished right at the bottom for most of the 90 minutes, his
engine seeming quite smokey early on.
Most of the KERS-equipped cars were apparently using it for this session,
although they haven't decided whether it will be used for the race. The
Sakhir circuit was reckoned to be one where KERS would be most useful.
More bodywork upgrades for several teams, including an interim double
deck diffuser for Force India.

Notes: The track seemed to develop compared to this morning, with fewer off-
track excursions, although there were still quite a lot. Nelson Piquet broke
his front wing going over the kerbs, continuing at speed for a while,
seemingly unaware of the sparks he was producing as the broken wing was
dragging on the track. Nico Rosberg topped the times yet again, with Fernando
Alonso popping up in second after spending most of the 90m running with a
heavy fuel load. The Force Indias seem to have gained nearly half a second
from their new double-deck diffuser, at one time both drivers were in the
top 10. The Ferraris and BMWs were slowest, but perhaps they remained on
heavy fuel. Kimi Räikkönen was not using KERS today, allowing Ferrari to
compare data with Massa's KERS car.
Note: I will almost certainly not be able to post tomorrow's times until
the evening, or maybe not until Sunday.
