Telling such jokes about Poland and Poles, shows that you are not just an ordinary fool, but ignorant as well. You do not know the basic facts of history either
of your nation or country in which you live or even Europe. Germany organized the extermination camps, but unfortunately Jews also helped, Poles saved Jews,
risking its own life, eventually Jews during and after the second war hated Great Britain, which you are a citizen.
There is Anti-Semitism in Poland (I am a Jew), but it also is the same and perhaps greater in Germany, France, USA or your Great Britain.
Instead, tell silly jokes, read some books. There is one thing that certainly Jews must be ashamed of. It is the stupidity and lack of basic knowledge about our
nation. Shame.

Tomekatomek, there are some more posts on this subject under: "Poles are responsible for Auschwitz" and "Stephen Fry's Statement".
Instead of writing hear ( I doubt we will ever get any response from Stephen it might be better to write a complaint to Channel 4. Link below:

Or you can go to main page and type customer complaint in search

Yes to some degree, he was on Channel 4 news and made an off hand comment about the Polish people being responsible for the death of Father Christmas. Now the
whole thing has been blown way out of proportion and in an attempt to redeem themselves Poland is funding a national project to bring Jesus back to life.

Joking aside..

I've heard the comments, I've read the rhetoric and I think there is one thing everyone needs to keep in mind.

We have a fairly vague understanding of the war and those people who are often thought of as 'heroes' or those portrayed as 'good' are often indecent in many
other ways.

Britain refused to go to war with Germany when it invaded the Rhineland and Austria, we negotiated away pieces of Czechoslovakia without consulting their
leaders and we waiting until Poland had been invaded before making a move. We fired on French ships after Germany invaded, we killed French allies aboard French
naval ships so that there would be no chance the Germans could get them. We sided with Russia a country that killed then covered up the murder of 200 Polish
officers, while running their own 'death camps'. Guess what, there was a lot of bad people and there was a lot of good people who had no idea what they were
getting into or what the bigger picture was.

There were German sympathisers in the UK, USA, Southern France, Russia, Poland and many, many more countries.

What Stephen Fry was illustrating was that there is a history in Poland of right wing behaviour, every countries has it's demons, Stephen wasn't saying that
Poland was responsible for Auschwitz but rather that ring wing elements in Poland had acted in coordination with the Nazis. And he was using this fact to try
and highlight the dangers of allowing oppressive parties to take control in Poland and resurge a murky past.

At least, that's how I understood it.
