Carlin Romano joined the Ursinus faculty in 2010 following 25 years as Literary Critic of The Philadelphia Inquirer, where he also served at various times as Book Editor, cultural reporter, general assignment city staffer and correspondent based in St. Petersburg, Russia. In the course of his journalistic career, he also taught philosophy at Yale, Yeshiva University, the University of Pennsylvania, Willliams College, Bennington College, Temple University and St. Petersburg State University in Russia. His areas of interest in philosophy include American pragmatism, Wittgenstein, jurisprudence, aesthetics, and the philosophy of literature and journalism. Among his interests in the humanities are Italian, Russian and Jewish literature and culture, as well as the history of the novel. He remains Critic-at-Large of The Chronicle of Higher Education, the international newspaper of academe based in Washington, D.C.
