We just had our first joint ACM-IEEE meeting last Thursday.
Unfortunately, Adam was not able to attend, so I lead the ACM portion
in his stead.
That said, those in attendance were supportive of the meeting merger.
During the IEEE section of the meeting, we discussed opportunities for
designing a robotics competition, in which robots would have to avoid
"mine" obstacles that had been networked together.
There was also discussion of a field trip, but it was decided that
IEEE wouldn't be doing it this year.
During the ACM portion, we went over the current progress of the
programming competition. We also mentioned that we're open to any
lightning talks that people want to hold.
We finished the meeting by mentioning a few of the internships we'd
done over the summer, reminding everyone the importance of getting a
good work history.
Thanks for reading,
