My liver was so big i sought help for my liver. I stayed in the hospital 15 days.  The doctors told me later they thought this was too short for me.

They removed ¾ of my liver sacrificing one lobe of the liver in order to complete the surgery. Dr Nagorney and Torres perfected this surgery for PLD.

Thank you for all your kind words. I’m now almost 75 thought to be the oldest Mayo patient living with PKD alleile one
For me as I age the vegan diet is good for me   Not for any philosophical reason but more because meats and such contain all the toxic things within the USA. I have found as I age past 70 my particular body responds well to being vegan

Thanks Diane. Your PKD site is a great tool to learn all the latest info. about the disease, different approach to diet and the group sharing the different experiences. I am writing to you after a while. You touched the subject on PLD in your attached E mail. And this brings up a question. PKD and PLD both go hand in hand except PKD can be deadly if dialysis etc. is not done properly  where as PLD will be very less dangerous. But PLD also creates complex issues if it gets enlarged to a very dangerous level with huge multiple cysts. My PLD cysts are very very large and volume may have grown to around 4 times the normal Liver size,  This could create other abdomen complications like Inferior Vena Cave Thrombosis and interference in bile ducts etc. There may be more other complications. So, I probably will require cysts fenestration and or resection. If I remember correctly you  had a very successful Liver resection at Mayo Rochester. Can you please share more info. on it?
Who was the surgeon who did your liver resection? What was the reason in your case for doing resection? There may have been some complication which may have led to do the surgery. If you can share that. Did they remove one of the lobes? was it right lobe or left lobe? is surgery very painful? Was it a Laparoscopic surgery? How was the recovery? and how many days required in the hospital? And any other info. you can share on it. Thanks very much Diana.

Paul

Dr Torres did a study on PLD and found that perhaps 100% of PKD patients of PKD patients had it if they could find a series to do it more finely

It is not to worry about—just avoid liver cancer foods such as peanuts
