Hi All,

Here is my most recent correspondance with Sami. He's down with what we can get for him, so if people at fiu can start looking into funding sources for his ticket as was discussed, we can start to fill in the details. Also, if people have access to venues, please start thinking about where he might speak.

Thanks,

R

Hi Rachel,

I don't mind a small or big crowd.  I think it's really up to you.  If you are going to be paying for my ticket then you might want to use me in the best way you think is possible.  I can talk about activism in a war and post-war situation (with powerpoint presentation if you like), boycott in Lebanon and the problems we face (so I can make it more critical if I am not talking to a crowd I need to win over), and just Lebanese/Israeli politics in general.  I could probably come anytime after the 15th on a weekday and would preferably want to stay maximum 1 day/1 night.  My schedule is still pretty much free so I'm flexible with the date.

Hope to see you soon.
Sami

hey Sami,

It's a joint Jewish-Palestinian group that I started down here recently with a friend of mine. Check out our blog for more info about who we are www.pjinitiative.blogspot.com. We'll have our points of unity up soon. They are modeled on most Palestine solidarity points of unity. I can't say how large the crowd would be, but there is the potential to get space at a local university (we have several members from Florida International University) or at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, where we're having an event this weekend. Do you have a preference? I could send a big public call, or we could do a small tea with local activists. Do you have an idea of what your schedule will be like? I think the best time for us would be towards the end of February, like after President's Day weekend.

Let me know,

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

I could probably come down for a day if you are interested.  What is this group and where would I be speaking?

Hey Sami,

would you be interested in giving a talk for my fledgling group in South Florida? I can't offer any sort of honorarium, but we could probably pay for your plane ticket and we could offer you a couch in a house full of radical activists.

Let me know,

Rachel

Hi Everyone,

I just want to let you know that I am most likely (almost 100%) coming to the US around Feb. 10 for three weeks.  I wanted you to know in case you would like me to speak about Lebanon (the war, the current situation, activism, boycott).  It would be good to let me know in advance so I prepare something.  Also, would Love to meet up for coffee in either case and will be spending a bunch of days in New York.

See you soon,
Sami
