Jungle Hashers,
I am constantly looking for ways to improve the Pattaya Jungle H3 website. To
that end I have added 3 new pages to the website, it is now possible to
get your own Personalised Directions to the A Site, rather than having
to look at the generic map I put up for each run and then figure it out for yourself.
There is only one catch, you
MUST agree to the request to share your location with
pattayajungle.com for the service to work. it will not work if you don't.
The
way it works is, it "Geolocates" you using the internet and then plots
what is theoretically, the shortest route to the A Site from wherever you
happen to be, a great service for anyone who isn't on the Eastern/Beach
side of Sukhumvit Rd. (Please be aware that it will not take into account any road works or road closures, you will have to figure that out for yourself)
It also provides written directions to follow, however there is a small glitch that it would appear I cannot overcome, Google uses the Thai street names in the written directions, regardless of whether or not there are English street names on the map, but there are turn left, turn right directions, plus the distance between each turn, so you should still be able to use them. (see image below, which is what is returned from my home to the next run A Site)

There are both Desktop/Laptop and Mobile
versions, you will find there are 2 links on the Home page, one just
above the generic directions and another immediately above the static
map, as per the image below.

For the Mobile (Smart Phone) users, it will work with your normal internet connection, but when out and about, you will need a decent Data connection at the bare minimum for it to work, but it will perform better if you also turn on your GPS, if you have it.
Another convenient point is if you get lost on the way to the A site, refreshing the page will re locate you and tell you how to get to the A Site from where you are, wherever that may be.
You can access it on your Mobile directly from a menu Button.

The other page I have added is there for the technically challenged Hares amongst us, to be able to provide me the GPS Co-ordinates of their A Site. You will find the page in the drop down menu for the Hare Line. This page is only available on the Main website.
To use it, type in a starting location, "Pattaya, Thailand" will give you a point way over near the beach in town, so if you know of a prominent feature like "Nong Nooch Gardens" nearby, type that in.
When the Red Marker appears, click on the marker and drag it to you A Site location, to see it more clearly, switch the map view to Satellite and zoom it up as far as you can and drag the Pin to the center of your A Site, write down or copy and paste the Co-ordinates it gives you and send it to me, PRETTY PLEASE. See the screenshots below.
