From Medbiq:

"MedBiquitous is pleased to announce the approval of MedBiquitous
Virtual Patient, ANSI /MEDBIQ VP.10.1-2010, an American National
Standard. The MVP standard will help healthcare educators transform
the curricula while improving patient safety."

More information at: http://www.medbiq.org/news/press_releases/2010-04-06_press_release.html

This makes MVP (which lies at the heart of PIVOTE) an ANSI standard -
putting it on the same footing standards-wise as ASCII.

We are contributing to the Medbiquitous work to define a
"profile" (i.e. subset/superset) of MVP that is best suited to virtual
worlds use.

Our next challenge might be a non-medical standard for MVP!
