I wanted to try out the pivot server to see if we can do a medical
application that we want to do. I have visited the pivote website,
downloaded the papers, visited the SL slurl and downloaded the objects
there. I know I need to host the server now. Can I use the daden
server for trial basis to see how everything works? How do I do that?

Also if someone can help me to put all the pieces together, I would
love to try it out. It definitely looks like a very healthy project.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Vibha, I've been trying for sometime to get this sorted. Many of
the things you are asking are what I need answers to also. However, I
can tell you that probably the best way to proceed is to contact David
(Burden). Ask him for a trial account (I think they are still
available) this will then give you access to the system so you can try
it out. You will then know more about what to do with it once you
install your own server. In World Lucas Nathansohn is very helpful,
he worked on the Coventry project and David is also very willing to
give advice.

I just wish we knew what others were doing with the PIVOTE programme
in UK. I know that in America people are working with AIs and linking
the AIML in to SL by using the LSL. They are also working on creating
an interface for "normal" lecturers to input scenario details. I'd be
interested to know if anyone else out there is looking at this sort of
thing in UK and how it all compares to PIVOTE. If you are going to be
at Coventry on 11 November I'd be interested to have a chat. I
certainly have loads of questions to ask David on that day :-)

Sorry I think this reply raises more questions than it answers.
Regards, Tim

Tim,

Thank you. Your steps to go forward definitely helps. It is something for me to follow up on.

I guess this environment and what we are doing is so new that we just have to follow every clue.

I will work on what you have suggested and will contact David Burden. He has been very helpful with giving us a demo and I had tried this group to see who else is working on this and I am definitely glad I did.

I will keep the group/you posted on my findings. And would really appreciate any more help/info you or anyone else can give as we progress.

We currently have a separate solution for the chatbot side of things that connects our AIML engine to SL through LSL, and we've been enhancing AIML to make it easier to use and add extensions to support avatar contro. Happy to chat through in November. We're also looking at building some chat support into PIVOTE itself as that is such a common requirement.

Vibha

Will email you with the trial details, and we're tryign to find the time to do an end-to-end set up guide on video to help people get started.

Thanks David, I'm trying out a Pandorabot at the moment just to get in some practise with AIML.  Looking forward to meeting up in November and learning about the chat support in PIVOTE, etc.
