Hi,

i have a question about the calculation of the velocity magnitude of a vector by clicking it.

Why shows the box a smaller velocity magnitude as only the u component? Normally it has to be bigger cause of the v component.

Hi
very good point...! u and v are based on non-smoothed velocities, but velocity magnitude is based on your "smooth data" settings. So if you have noisy data, then there will be a difference.
The question is: How should this be fixed? Should I just make all velocities that are displayed in this box be based on the "smooth data" settings?

Hi William,

ok now i understand why there are differences between the velocities. I think it should be fine if you fix it to the "smooth data" settings displayed in the box. An other idea is to show both, "smooth data" and non-smoothed velocities. However, the first opinion would be fine.
Nevertheless PIVlab is a very great work!

I fixed this and it will be included in the next release.
