Hello, I hope this message finds you well.

Sony cameras offer a recording format called XAVC S-I, which is an All-Intra compression format.
I would like to ask if it is possible to analyze videos recorded in this format using PIVlab.
If anyone has knowledge or experience regarding this, I would greatly appreciate your insight.

Additionally, are there any articles or official documents that list the video formats supported by PIVlab?

Lastly, I would be grateful if you could advise me on what type of camera would be suitable for PIVlab analysis.

Hi,
I do not recommend to use video files for analyses in PIVlab, no matter of the format. Parallel processing of video files is not possible, because I don't know a memory and disk efficient way to access the same video file from multiple workers. I would always recommend to convert your uncompressed video format to an uncompressed image format and use that in PIVlab. Performance will be much better. Don't use shady internet converters for the conversion, but do it in some proper software where you have full control over the conversion process (e.g. Matlab). I think Matlab could read these video files if you have the proper decoders installed on your operating system.

Hello, thank you for your reply. This is very helpful.
So, does that mean that even if the video format is XAVC S-I, which does not have interframe compression, it can be used if it is converted into an image?
I'm sorry for asking multiple times.
