Comparison between PIVlab and OpenPIV

Hello, can anyone give me a short summary about the advantages and disadvantages between PIVlab and OpenPIV. We are trying to choose which one we will use for our application. Thank you

Just a remark - OpenPIV is now developing only the Python version. There is also a GPU version, all-in-cloud version, GUI, but all is based on Python.

Hello, is the python version easy to use considering I have never coded in python. I've only used matlab so far

I think both Openpiv and pivlab are pretty comparable in what they do and also how good they do it. My very biased impression is that pivlab is easier to get started:

I agree they are compatible in terms of PIV, etc. OpenPIV has now a very decent GUI so it’s easy to start as well. The big big advantage is that you don’t need a Matlab license and it works on all platforms, even in the virtual environment that is just opened for your need when you need. So I can run it on an IPad (using Python emulators) and iPhone using online environment and a web browser.
