RIVERS CASINO AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY
PRESENT HOW TO BECOME A CASINO DEALER OPEN HOUSE
Two info sessions will be held on Oct. 11 at Community College of Allegheny County
Pittsburghers looking to join the fast-paced and thrilling gaming industry or those interested in learning about new career opportunities are encouraged to join Rivers Casino and Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) for their How to Become a Casino Dealer open house on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
The open house will be held from noon-2 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the CCAC casino dealer training space located in the library (room L112) on CCAC’s Allegheny Campus. Attendees are invited to meet Rivers Casino’s professional dealers and ask questions. Human resources representatives will provide information about scholarships available through Rivers Casino that cover the entire cost of CCAC’s introductory Blackjack and Banked Games class, as well as benefits and compensation potential. Casino and CCAC staff will be available to review the enrollment and application process for the Nov. 6 course.
Participants will learn about a number of benefits provided by Rivers Casino that are not typical elsewhere. These include immediate vesting in the 401K plan, a vacation program with up to 20 days off during the first year, chef-prepared healthy meals, paid lunch break, free parking and more. Rivers Casino Team Members with an average of 30 or more hours per week, receive the choice of two PPO medical plans, a dental plan with 100% preventative coverage, vision coverage and other great benefits. Full time Team Members are also eligible for discounted health club pricing and tuition reimbursement after the first year.
“For those who enjoy a high-energy work environment, the casino industry is a great place to further your career,” said Craig Clark, general manager at Rivers Casino. “Our table dealers are sharp, passionate and personable people who thrive in a social atmosphere and we provide them with the tools necessary to excel.”
The 100-hour introductory Blackjack and Banked Games course provides the foundation for starting a new profession as a table dealer. As part of the class, students complete the required Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) audition test. CCAC’s casino dealer training school is approved by the PGCB and is recognized by all casinos in the state, as well as some out-of-state casinos.
In 2016, Rivers Casino and CCAC began partnering to offer casino dealer classes. Since then, approximately 45 students have been hired by Rivers Casino as table games dealers through the program.
For additional information on class schedules, visit CCAC’s casino dealer training school located on the Allegheny Campus in the library, or visit www.ccac.edu/casino.aspx.
