Last night I did 21.5 miles on the new Seiran SL, it felt pretty good
overall. I stayed inside a local park that has a nice 2.45 mile outer
loop which is pretty nice, gotta watch out for the walkers with their
dogs, runners, and cars. The speed limit for them is 20mph.....hehe, I
was passing a few! The last hill climb on my last lap was a bit rough
though.....got down onto the smallest chainring for that one.....but I
averaged 16mph for the ride.
I'm headed out "cross country" tonight, aiming for 22...taking Friday
off. I was wondering if anybody was wanting to do something longer on
Saturday? perhaps a 35-40 ? It's supposed to be 66º ... I'd be able
to meet anytime....11am? Noon? etc.
I can come "your way" or you can come my way, or meet in between,
whatever. In Goddard State Park, there is a 12 mile loop around Lake
Wilhelm. It's rolling terrain through woods with vistas of the lake
here and there.
I'd like to invit ethe group there sometime, its nice to ride one
loop, take a break, then change directions for the next loop. Once I
get a date for the Wilhelm Winery Open house, the winery nearby puts
on a big open house, serves free food with entertainment, etc. My ski
club always goes up and rides that day then we go for the open house
and the food....a few drinks too..
I have also been looking at the Montour Trail online. .... Coraoplois
to Cecil Park is 23.5 miles, then there's an optional Panhandle Trail
in McDonald to Walker's Mill which is 6 miles one way. So you add that
all up round trip, 60 miles......so lots of trail to choose from
depending on how good you're feeling. Never been there before though.
Anyone been there recently?

There is also the Panhandle Trail which starts at Walker's Mill and
ends in Weirton WV. The last part from Burghettstown to Weirton should
be ridden on a mountain bike. It is rough and mostly ballast. They're
supposed to finish that part, but to my knowledge isn't yet completed.
Also on my site.
As far as riding in Goddard, I'd love to but can't this week. Besides,
I'd like to ride there when it's green. It's a long car ride so I'd
want ideal conditions when we do it. Oh, and I generally don't pass
many at my age. Only kids and grandmas.

Yes, The Goddard State Park is a summer ride with the group for sure. I was "throwing it out there" now so everyone could keep it in mind for a place to meet other than what you're used to riding on. Sometimes finding good places to ride are hard to come by, especially ones that are 100% asphalt paved and closed to traffic. The winery open house is in the summer, so maybe the group can come up then, I'll find out the date for sure and post.
I haven't been on the trail this year yet, it may still be wet and/or muddy in spots from the winter run off. So maybe I'll head up there this Saturday and check it out if everyone else is busy.
I'll check your website out too for the trail photos, thanks.
