Looking ahead...upcoming events, 2026 schedule and procedural changes

Hi, all.

I'd like to lead with the news that our comrade Cristian is heading to LEL on August 3rd...good luck, Cristian!

For next year

The deadline (September 30th) for submission of next year's calendar is approaching. I wanted to let everyone know my current thoughts, and give you a chance to chime in with any suggestions or requests.

First and foremost: in order to keep things simple, I'm planning to avoid any event fees next year. I will likely require that riders be members of our sponsoring club, the WPaBC, but otherwise (so long as RUSA continues to cover the per-event insurance fees), it's going to be free. This means that hotel rooms/parking at the controles will be at the discretion of the riders...I may well reserve a room for the longer events, and will of course be happy to share, but there are no guarantees.

I intend to continue the pattern of a 100K and 200K per month, plus a full series. However, I'm considering offering the series in the fall, culminating in a 600K in mid-late September, in order to avoid summer heat. This is merely an idle thought, and I'm happy to be convinced otherwise.

Finally, if anyone has specific goals towards which they'd like to work, I'm happy to craft the schedule to accommodate. Just let me know!
