Hey Pitt Randos!
The randonneuring season is picking up and we have our first 200k on Sunday! As Dan noted, this route is a bit of a baby animal as it heads west into the flatter state of Ohio. After leaving Beaver Falls, you will get through Darlington, and then it is on to Ohio, where East Palestine awaits you. Next it is on to Columbiana where there are more options for refill but likely none will be open, so head for the Marathon station as you exit town. Watch out for black squirrels! Next up its Leetonia and a peaceful bit of rail trail before heading north onto some of the straightest roads in our catalogue of routes. Mile 57 is the spiritual halfway point and you may nourish your soul at the Palmyra Little Shopper before heading east toward home. The edge of Canfield brings a little bit of suburban traffic but you may find it was was worth it as you undulate northward in the Mill Creek Park. Miles of shady, winding, bike friendly passage with some history mixed in, its a delight and brings you right to the heart of Youngstown. Traffic there has been non existent on past brevets and as you leave the city center, there is a massive warehouse brewery with a food truck or cart parked out front as an option for a refresh. The last leg into PA is the familiar and welcoming Kittens and Puppies 100k route carrying you back the start.
Looking at Randoplan the wind should be very favorable on the second half of the loop. Temps in the 40's with some cloud cover and no rain should make a comfortable spring day. As always you will need current RUSA membership and signed waiver to ride. Soooo come on down,  I will be there at 630, hope to see you there!
Steve
