Happy nigh-spring, all!
I hope you've been enjoying the outdoors recently...I'm simultaneously trying to figure out how to fix a cracked frame on my beloved P-38 and how to mount a rear fender on my freshly built backup Metabike...
A few notes before kicking off the list of upcoming rides:
1. Steve Kunsak has graciously volunteered to take over the role of RBA. He'll be doing all the dirty work helping me this year, then taking up the reins officially for 2027. I'll still be hovering in the background helping with tech stuff as necessary, but I want to offer a big thank-you to Steve for helping keep the sport going here!
2. You must be a *
current* member of RUSA before signing up for a ride; they will not accept results for non-members, and it makes our insurance company really cranky. So, before you sign up, please
join or renew your membership.
3. We offer all zero-fee events, with a couple of related expectations:
a. Plan for your own pre- and post-ride support, including parking, hotels, etc. While we'll certainly help out-of-towners make arrangements as requested (especially for the all-day and overnight rides), expect no formal drop bag service nor accommodations.
b. Please sign up for membership in our sponsoring club, the
Western PA Bicycle Club. It's a nominal yearly fee and helps us keep the
lights website on.
4. All riders must sign a waiver before the ride. You should be directed to it during the registration process, but, if not, please
fill it out here.
This year is intended to be supportive of riders trying to achieve ("or regain" he says, looking at his own waistline) greater riding fitness. So, we're starting slow this year, with the introduction of 166Ks and a later series, in order to be kinder to those of us who have some ground to make up.
