If we got rid of high-stakes standardized testing not just in our school, but in the whole school system, we could use that money toward hiring back teachers, equipping schools with enough books and school supplies, restoring art/music/foreign language in sufficient quantities, lowering class size... the list goes on and on about what we have lost that is so essential to our children's education. Teachers throughout the system would be able to teach creatively again, not just teach to the test. Pittsburgh Montessori is lucky because we don't see as much test prep as many of the other schools, but it still affects us and our children.
