Members of Pennsylvania Bio:

The BIO International Convention in Chicago has been a great success already for the Pennsylvania team.  Our Pennsylvania Pavilion is strategically located near the entrance to the massive exhibit hall and has enjoyed continuous traffic since opening Monday morning.  Last evening, members of the Pennsylvania Bio Board of Directors enjoyed a small group dinner with Governor Corbett, along with Jim Greenwood, President and CEO of BIO, and a handful of PA-based members of the BIO Board of Directors.

As we continue our momentum into the second full day of BIO 2013, I am pleased and proud to inform you Governor Corbett will be honored today as the winner of the 2013 BIO Governor of the Year award. This award recognizes a governor who shows leadership and commitment to the life sciences industry by creating a favorable environment for job creation and discovering life enhancing therapies for patients around the world.

Despite the fiscal restraints, the efforts of the Governor and his administration have allowed for the life sciences industry to continue to grow in Pennsylvania. Governor Corbett acknowledged ways to leverage new company formation and expansion of existing business by providing state support for achieving milestones such as capital expenditures and job creation.  His ongoing support of the Life Sciences Leadership Advisory Council goals is additional testament to his long-term promise to our industry.

We will be hosting Governor Corbett at the Pennsylvania Pavilion for a reception this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. CDT; The 2013 Governor of the Year award will be presented at the Global Leaders Reception this evening.  Attached is a news release which will be issued later today by BIO. You can follow these events and the Pennsylvania delegation's activity via Twitter.

Thank you for your continued support.

All the best,

Chris Molineaux

Did you know that Corbett himself is a product of biotechnology?--an amazingly lifelike replica of a state governor that is programmed to reflexively plant its lips on the buttocks of the nearest corporate executive.
