Business Etiquette Dinner

GPSG will host a dinner, instructing students on proper dinner etiquette.   Do you have an interview coming up soon?  Make sure you know how to use all of those forks!  The event will be on February 11 from 6:30 to 9:00pm.  Go to our Facebook page for more information, and buy tickets on Eventbrite.

 

Blue Man Group

Discounted tickets to see the Blue Man Group will be available to all graduate and professional students.  The tickets are for the February 27 8pm showing.  Buy tickets now on Eventbrite!


TEDx University of Pittsburgh

TEDx will be returning this spring with new and exciting discussion.  The event will begin 10am Saturday, March 26th in the Assembly Room at William Pitt Union.  Details will follow soon!


GPSG Elections

The University of Pittsburgh Graduate and Professional Assembly is currently seeking candidates for each GPSG Executive Board office that will become available in May 2016.  This opportunity is open to all University of Pittsburgh graduate students regardless of prior experience in student government or graduate student organizations.  Officer positions can receive a stipend. Positions available: President, VP of Communications, VP of Committees, VP of Finance, VP of Programming. Please submit applications by February 5, 2016. For more information visit gpsg.pitt.edu

 

Party in the Tropics

GPSG will be offering drink tickets to Party in the Tropics at Phipps Conservatory on March 4th.  Go to the Phipps website for more information on the event.  More information will follow on how to purchase tickets.


PhD Comics

Jorje Cham, from PhD comics will be coming to speak to University of Pittsburgh graduate students on March 14th.  During the event, there will also be a screening of PhD, the movie.  For more information on PhD comics go to phdcomics.com

Student Opportunities

GOSECA Graduate Conference

Abstract submissions are due Friday, January 21st. This year’s conference theme encourages participants to think critically about the impact that fluid, adaptable conceptions of belonging and exclusion in the realms – past and present – of domestic and international politics, economics, cultural production, social relations, the law, and demography, among others, have had on their specific field of study. Graduate students from all academic and professional disciplines are invited to make submissions.  See attached flyer for details.


Bridging Israel and Turkey

Learn about the dynamics of Jewish people living in contemporary Istanbul with an event in the Cathedral of learning on February 3, 2016.  Events include tours of the Israeli Heritage and Turkish Nationality rooms as well as a lecture from Marcy Brink-Danan.  See the attached flyer for more information.


Wellness Center Condom Cozy Contest

The Wellness Center is pleased to announce the first annual Condom Cozy Contest. All eligible designs will be judged and the top 5 winners designs will be used to cover all Wellness Center condoms. Additionally, winners will receive a complementary prize!  See the attached flyer for more details.


Patient Care Health Simulation

Pharmacy, PharmD is hosting a large Patient Care Health Simulation on February 29th in O'Hara. This is to be interprofessional and will allow all students to learn more about what each profession does to help patients throughout their healthcare experience, as well as to increase patient empathy and understanding.
