GPSG Presents Pies + Politics

Join us Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 12 – 1 PM in William Pitt Union Room 837 to discuss politics with expert in American politics Dr. Kristin Kanthak over pizza and pies!

This is a free event, and there is a maximum of 40 students at this event.

*This is a non-partisan event to discuss politics in general. Neither GPSG nor the University of Pittsburgh is affiliated with any particular party or candidate.

Pitt Make A Difference Day: Team GPSG

Registration Deadline: October 9, 2016

Pitt Make a Difference Day (PMADD) is the region’s largest day of service! PMADD is an opportunity for students to show their school spirit and serve their community.

Join the GPSG team! Go to: http://bit.ly/GPSGPMADD

·      Click the green “Register” button.

·      Then enter your contact information and select “Graduate Student” under class standing.

·      Select register as a “student organization”. A text field will pop up underneath

·      Enter “Graduate and Professional Student Government” NOT GPSG.

·      You may select to be a leader or not according to your preference.

 

DIRECTIONS: You should plan to arrive at the William Pitt Union at 9 am on Saturday 10/22. Transportation, food, and a t-shirt are all provided. You can expect to return to the WPU by 3:30 pm.

DEADLINE: The PMADD registration deadline is 11:59 p.m. on October 9, 2016 or 5.000 registrants, whichever comes first.

 

GPSG Presents Stress Relief Techniques with the Stress Free Zone

Take some time for yourself! You deserve some peace and relaxation! Join us Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 5 – 6 PM in the O’Hara Student Center Dining Room to learn some stress relief techniques!

GPSG Presents 2016 Fall Formal: Casino Night (21+ Only)

Join us on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 7:30 – 11:59 PM at Saint Nicholas Cathedral located at 419 South Dithridge St.

Join us for the annual GPSG Fall Formal with a Vegas twist! It will be a night of casino games, dancing, drinks, and hors d’oeuvres.

GOSECA (Graduate Organization for the Study of Europe and Central Asia) – Movie Night: PARADA

There will be a screening of “Parada” (2011; comedy-drama; Sebrian with English subtitles) on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 6 – 8 PM in the William Pitt Union Room 837.

Sponsored by GOSECA and open to all Pitt students, faculty, and staff! Pizza, appetizers, and light refreshments will be provided.

 

Mental Health Awareness Week: Oct 10 – Oct 13

Monday, October 10, 2016: Art Gallery Opening “Stories Untold” 8 -10 PM in the Art Gallery & Jazz Hall in William Pitt Union’s Main Floor

Tuesday, October 11, 2016: “Pitt Talks” Whiteboard Campaign 10 AM – 2 PM in WPU Main Floor. Resident Student Association’s Non-Alcoholic Mix-Off 8 – 10 PM in the Schenley Quad. Therapy Dogs 7 -8 PM in WPU Driveway.

Wednesday, October 12, 2016: Cards & Cookies 10 AM – 4 PM in WPU Driveway. Jordan Burnham’s Survival, Recovery, Acceptance 7:30 – 8:30 PM (Doors open at 7) in WPU Assembly Room on struggling with mental health during college years.

Thursday, October 13, 2016: Self-Care Fair 10 AM – 2 PM WPU Lawn & Patio. Premiere of Student-Produced Film “Ward” with Q&A. 6 – 7 PM Frick Fine Arts Auditorium. Explore the stigma around mental illness from a student perspective.
