Hi NLP folks!

On behalf of Andrea Goldsmith and Fei-Fei Li, Co-chairs, the three of us would like to invite you and your colleagues to recommend candidates for the 2017 Rising Stars in EECS: An Academic Career Workshop for Women hosted by the EE and CS departments of Stanford University. As this year’s hosts, we are proud to bring together the best and brightest women in electrical engineering and computer science as the future leaders of our profession. We look forward to hearing about their accomplishments and aspirations, and to providing guidance on navigating the journey to obtain and be successful in an academic career.

The organizers would appreciate if you and your colleagues would encourage the most promising women graduate students and recent postdoctoral scholars in EE, CS, and related fields to apply. They promise a lively and fun workshop that will inspire and inform the next steps in their careers. The workshop will be held at Stanford November 5-7. Candidates can link to the application at risingstars2017.stanford.edu/apply. A letter of recommendation from each applicant’s advisor is required and can be uploaded by the advisor. The application deadline, including the letter of recommendation, is June 16, 2017. Approximately 60 women will be invited to participate, with travel and lodging expenses paid.

If you have any questions about the workshop, please don’t hesitate to contact the organizers at risings...@stanford.edu.

Take care,
Dan Jurafsky, Chris Manning, Percy Liang
