We recommend a Microsoft "System Rating" of 4.0 for the best possible performance results.

Xactimate and other Verisk estimating products are not supported on Mac OS. The products work with the Windows operating systems, listed below. We do support machines with an Intel chipset using a dual boot configuration as long as only one operating system is running at a given time, and as long as that operating system is supported. Machines using Apple silicon are not supported.

Xactimate is widely used by adjusters, and contractors working insurance related losses. In order to run Xactimate on a desktop, there are certain computing requirements that must be met. These requirements include both hardware and software specifications, and it is important to ensure that your computer meets these specifications before attempting to run Xactimate. We have written about how to run Xactimate on a Mac if you would like, but we really recommend a dedicated PC for this job.

Starting with the hardware requirements, your computer should have at least a 2.5 GHz Intel or AMD processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a dedicated video card with at least 1 GB of VRAM. This will ensure that Xactimate runs smoothly and efficiently on your computer. Additionally, it is recommended that your computer have at least 10 GB of free hard drive space, as Xactimate requires a significant amount of storage.

In terms of software requirements, your computer should be running a 64-bit version of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10. Additionally, your computer should have the latest version of the .NET Framework installed, as well as the latest version of Adobe Reader.

It is also important to note that Xactimate requires a high-speed internet connection in order to function properly. Xactimate relies on a cloud-based platform, and a slow internet connection can cause delays and disruptions while using the software.

In addition, Xactimate requires a Screen resolution of 1024768 or higher. This is to ensure that the software can be viewed clearly on your monitor and that all of the buttons and features are easily accessible.

Another important requirement is a Microsoft Office. Xactimate allows you to export data to Excel and Word, so having a version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer will allow you to take full advantage of this feature. Utilizing tokens with Xactimate in MS Word is a great way to speed up your report writing.

Xactimate construction price expert Steve Shannon told me that Merlin Law Group should make a seminar called, The Price is Right! I was listening to him and OSHA expert witness, Kevin Dandridge, discuss various issues of construction worker and site safety and where those costs should show up in insurance claim estimates.

They emphasized the point that OSHA laws apply to residential and commercial construction.

I encourage all property insurance adjusters and their managers, whether you are a company, independent or public adjuster, to get education on OSHA and Certification from Xactimate. Your estimates will be more accurate and reflect legal construction.
