By the way, since this is an OEM laptop device, please take into consideration that our support may be limited since we are not familiar with the technology, settings, customizations, custom drivers, and features that the OEM has designed and installed for your system, nevertheless, I will do my best to assist you with your concern.

I want to attempt a cold reboot of my laptop. My battery was removable, but the case was not easy to open as it needs the help of a technician to remove screws to open the case. In this case, can I follow the steps for a Laptop cold reboot with a non-removable battery?

We have some issues as well with this wifi adapter, regardless of which driver version the users are in. We have recently changed the authentication method to EAP-TTLS and for the moment users that have this Wifi adapter have reported Wifi disconnections. The Wlan report at the time of the event show that the user has disconnected from the wifi network when the user did not. In system event we see an information level event that informs the driver is corrupt or not properly installed.

I tried the cold reboot. The only problem is when I turned on my laptop after pressing the power button for 15 seconds, the screen is black and I did shut down once more and turned on again my laptop. The cold reboot did not work as expected. Should I repeat the cold reboot again considering the black screen problem?

probably not it, I'm having the same issue (blank screen on cold boot and everything} and the only peripherals my laptop has are wired ones. it also does this regardless of whether they're plugged in or not. I hope someone finds out what the actual problem is. The generic solution given by senkuchan isn't cutting it for me, and the problem with my wifi adapter is getting worse.

Upon looking further, I think it's because of an issue with the hardware itself. I'm a bit out of practice when it comes to mucking about with a laptop's internal components, and am therefore too nervous to try this out myself, but this might work

Thanks for your reply. The wifi adapter is Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160 MHz, this is, as far as i understand the same adapter as the original poster. Regardless if realy needed by intel i can open a diferent threat.

In line with your concern that, if you should repeat the cold reboot process, yes you may perform again the cold reboot, but this time, you may need to perform the clean installation first of your OEM driver for your wi-fi adapter: ( -gaming/tuf-gaming/asus-tuf-gaming-f15/helpdesk_download?model2Name=FX506LI) and performed a Cold Reboot: ( ).

Bluetooth and other communications methods used with wireless mice and keyboards all use the same 2.4GHz transmission band that is used for standard WiFi. As well, USB 3.x transmission is done using the 2.4GHz signalling, so it too can contribute to WiFi interference if the USB cables being used are not well shielded.

Ok, with all due respect, if you followed my algorithm exactly, there is no way that the drivers will reinstall themselves. You need to follow it exactly, performing reboots at all of the appropriate points and possibly a number of times. You also need to remember to disconnect it from the Internet at step 2 and keep it disconnected completely until the process is complete.

EDIT: I see that my wifi board requires kernel 5.2 so getting it working is going to take a lot of work. I will do a lot more reading. I found this Qubes discussion on how to update the kernel in the Debian or Fedora VMs.

VM kernel managed by dom0 By default, VMs kernels are provided by dom0. (See here for information about upgrading kernels in dom0.) This means that: You can select the kernel version (using GUI VM Settings tool or qvm-prefs commandline tool); You can...

Installing and updating software in domUs Updating domUs, especially TemplateVMs and StandaloneVMs are important steps in Updating Qubes OS. It is very import to keep domUs up-to-date with the latest security updates. Updating these VMs also allows...

Recently I couldn't see any wifi option. So, I uninstalled my network adapter from device manager as many website had suggested it as a solution. But after that I am not being able to install my wifi drivers both manually and from intel support assistant. Manually, I get the error of installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your administrator. I did try to edit the group policy, software restriction policy and regedit DisableMSI, but still couldn't bypass the error.

The wifi connection is very slow and disconnects often. Since the wifi was working under Mac OSX and Windows on the same computer/router setup, I suspect the solution is to uninstall the wifi driver and install a new one. My question is: which driver do I choose and how do I uninstall the old one and install the new one?

Probably not required, since intel devices are mostly supported by default. In fact if you installed them and/or did so improperly it may interfere with the proper operation of the default drivers & firmware. Particularly if it overwrites some of the files provided by the OS.

I have the same wifi card and linux support is out of the box supported no need to install any driver at all.
We need to debug that if you have any issues with ax200
Can you provide output of lspci

look at 04 your ax200 intel card is there now if you have dualbooted with windows it happens sometime that windows blocks that card as windows never shuts down completely
now i will recommend if you have dualbooted boot into windows and disconnect and turn off wifi there and switch back to fedora it should work
if rfkill show the wifi devices
also look at the output
lspci -knn grep Net; rfkill list
modinfo iwlwifi
dmesg grep iwlwifi

Other than uninstalling and re-installing the driver, what have you tried? Is there anything connected? Dock? ethernet? No physical wifi switch I assume, what about a fn key to enable/disable the wifi?

I will be concise and clear. I'm currently satesfied with the OMV 6 isntallation but i had many problems instaling it after almost 2 years using OMV 5. The only thing that was the problem for me is recognizing the wireless card when booted from USB.

My problem is that i use LTE router which doesn't have LAN ports, so I needed to share my connection (router connected with usb port) through LAN on Windows, then to the switch and then connection on LAN of the future OMV installation. I will not mention problems sharing that kind of internet, i will just say don't lose your faith Anyway, i will skip that story now, and tell you this.. My D-Link wireless USB wasn't recognized by the OMV boot ISO, or at least it just doesn't work as it should, so i ended with that sharing connection through LAN just to solve OMV 6 preparation for installation. After i rebooted computer OMV recognized wireless card and it was fine, but i can imagine people that don't understand OMV 6 installation that there aren't any warnings configuring wireless connection. OMV can see my card in installation but it just doesn't use it in proper way connecting to router to get packages from sources.

leptir The driver software for your ralink based wireless device is already included in the OMV6 iso as part of the "firmware-misc-nonfree" package. Your wireless card wouldn't have been recognised on re-boot if the software driver were not already installed.

But in install of Omv 5 and now Omv 6 it was the same, after writing the wifi details it just return to the start of wifi setting. I had previously HP computer where the same thing happened, and i tested that D-link on Windows several times and it was just fine. This is not some major problem, i worked it around, but i was just wondered if there is any additional custom boot options for Omv regarding drivers

leptir I don't have any wifi dongles to test this out and offer much advice. During OMv6 installation and after network config you could switch to one of the installers alternative consoles (F4) to read any error messages. Otherwise AFAIK it would mean preseeding the OMV6 installation with your wireless network details, the ssid, wpa2 password, etc. I don't think you can do that by simply adding additional boot parameters via the initial OMV boot menus.

leptir I found time to dig out my ageing T420 laptop as it supports VT-D and you can passthrough the inbuilt wireless N card to a VM. During the OMV6 install any wireless adapter found during the background hardware scan is presented for choice at the network configuration step. It's either going to connect via DHCP, or not , after the input of a valid ssid and WPA/WPA2 per-shared key. The install can complete without an internet connection which you can then configure post-install with omv-firstaid at the OMV6 CLI.

One ting which may have prevented your wireless adapter from working during the install is the use of ipv6. Turning ipv6 off during the install might have made the difference. To do this, you would choose to edit the boot params at the first OMv6 install screen , adding the param "ipv6.disable=1"
